Overflowing

April 2, 2007

What we’ve all been waiting for has arrived! I just returned from Colorado, and the tanks have taken some more water. In fact they are full and overflowing. Dave did a good job of taking care of things while I was away too. We’ve had some more good looking baby calves born, however one did not make it. I can’t determine the cause of death, but I think it was still born. The mother is fine though. It’s a shame but that’s just part of raising cattle.

The windmill is ready when we can get a big truck out to drill the holes and stand it up we will. It won’t be long. I’m going to contact some septic people today to get started on putting a small tank in the ground for the cabin. I think the electric co-op is close to coming out and setting that meter pole too. That proposal for paving the roads should be here any day. He told me that they could start in 1-2 months. I fertilized the coastal field last week so it is really growing fast and green as well as the Tifton-85.

When the ground dries up a little I’ll be back in the tractor preparing the big field to plant hay. Something is not right with the Dodge, so I am taking it in to the dealer today. Whenever it is not driven for a few days, the battery dies. Vacation is good but I’m glad to be back, there’s lots to do. See y'all soon.
